Messiness is a sign of creativity, right? Like you, I’ve looked at everyone else’s office (including yours!) and decided mine needs an upgrade. Ultimately though, it doesn’t matter what our actual physical surroundings look like because we’re living in the places our imagination creates when we’re writing. That makes your office as perfect as any in Architectural Digest.

I love the chair as well, and can relate to having something from a grandma. I have her cedar chest and I’m looking at it right now. Thanks for sharing your workspace.

Somehow it gives more of a feeling of the author to see where you work. Glad you didn’t clean it first, it looks so personal. I agree with the others about your Nan’s chair. it bring warmth and family into your workspace. I loved looking at your bookshelves. Wish I could have seen all the titles. When I go to someone’s house, I am always drawn to their shelves. Wish I could dig through those shelves, and the net, and research for you. The whole idea is fascinating. Keep up the good work. Is this your new office? Mary

I adore them and I know the Montlake art dept. worked really hard to get them right. They will be my next decorating item – I want to frame them and put them on the wall.

It’s a quiet street and the view is a little dull, but I love the light. Sometimes I find myself staring out of it, waiting for inspiration to strike, and other times I have to close the curtains so I can concentrate.
